Selfie, dronie, Bring in the next one!

Almost always see the old things as useless and unusable associated with nostalgia and memory, but the fact that everything old was more concrete, real, you could touch, change their shape, innovate ...

It's very opposite of what actually occurs. Most of our lives today is virtual, computer-based programs or applications that are a simulation of reality.

A photograph taken with a cell phone can reach the entire world within seconds and we're all happy about that. But we still have that? What is the result of go further, faster?

Without realizing it, a large part of human beings we've joined some kind of live stream after the phone with more applications, flatter TV, tablet with more features ... and every day update to keep up.

In the 80s, a famous chilean comedian, "Coco" Legrand, satirized on modern life. "I can not serve you because I'm in a hurry. I do not know where I'm going, but I'm in a hurry "... lol

Now, we are ending the era of "selfie", fashion self portrait captured with cell phone, practiced by the young stars, artists and even politicians and religious leaders. Today is starting a new trend. The "dronie", self portrait photographs located from drones low over the person.

The question is what will be the next trend that all adhere?, What is the most popular application next year? How many hours will work to update our thousands of applications?

At home, I have a book of aeronautical history of Chile that was my grandfather. It's 1950, measures 50 cm tall and should weigh about 10 kg. Everytime I open it and feel the smell of damp, museum, and find a place to establish them to leaf through, I feel a touch that is unique in the world. It is a contact with an ancestor, one who was my family, someone even met, but this book is a bridge between us, because in the late 40s my grandfather looked the same sheets I'm looking at today in 2014.

I don't think there is an application that allows us to communicate with our past (something like a Ouija board). But I think we should be more aware of using technology and its mass as a useful tool, that makes us more human.

We must be more minimalist in our daily lives: we do not need a phone with 10 different GPS applications, or use Waze to go to the supermarket around the corner, or check our twitter every two minutes.

We are living a privileged time in technology and communication, we can progress in a day what used to take 100 years. But we must be aware of what we do to stay at the top of the evolutionary ladder and not be overthrown by our creation.
